The
two-day workshop A of Seed of Nature, a teacher training program
jointly organized by WWF Hong Kong & Quality Education Fund, was
held on 13th-14th October 2006. 18 primary school teachers from 6 seed
schools joined this workshop in Sai Kung Pak Tam Chung PLK Holiday Camp
and Hoi Ha Marine Life Center.
On the first day, a
seminar about Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) was held by
Miss Nicole Wong, Education Manager of WWF Hong Kong. After that, the
Education Officers of WWF demonstrated the interactive marine education
programs on the beach of Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park. At night, the teachers
worked out a comprehensive teaching plan of a sustainable education
program for their students.
Miss Katie Flowers, a
nature artist, was invited to demonstrate an art program in Hoi Ha Wan
Marine Park. Teachers incorporated beautiful elements of nature into
their masterpieces. The workshop was ended by an excellent snorkeling
experience along the colourful coral shore of Hoi Ha Wan. Everyone in
the workshop enjoyed this substantial program which helped enrich their
knowledge and experience of environmental education.
